My Name is Sabrina Wanjiku Simader and this is my story:
I am 19 years old, born in Kenya and live in Austria since the age of 3. In parallel to my sports-Career I attend a School named HAK/HAS in Liezen (Austria) where I attend evening courses and online study sessions since 2015. Most of the final exams took place in October 2017. The rest will come after the current race season..
Apart from German I have a good command of English and have also some Basic knowledge of Kikuyu and Kiswaheli, the languages spoken by my grandparents and relatives in Kenya.
Soon after I moved to Austria I have experienced a rather strange element – snow and very cold weather. Step by step I had to get used to it and acclimatize myself. Over time I got a real passion and love for skiing and racing. In the winter-season of 2012/2013 I became triple school champion in the Austrian province of Styria (in the disciplines Giant Slalom, Super-G and Alpine Combination).
In spring 2017 I have successfully completed my 3. FIS-racing-season, that brought a number of highlights, specifically
my first Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Norway (2016),
my first World Cup appearance in Maribor (Jan. 2017), and
my first big Alpine Ski – World Championships in St. Moritz (February 2017).
